- OK = not on the URL blocklists checked.
- Fail = the domain is on one or more URL blocklists — remove links to it; mail linking to it is widely blocked.
- Warn (redirect) = the link hides its real destination behind a redirect; link directly instead.
- Warn (shortener) = a URL shortener; replace it with the full branded URL.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a bad link hurt my email?
Spam filters scan the URLs in a message against URL blocklists (DBL/SURBL/URIBL). Even one listed or cloaked link can mark the whole message as spam regardless of your authentication, so link reputation is part of deliverability.
What are Spamhaus DBL, SURBL and URIBL?
They're domain/URL blocklists that catalog domains seen in spam, phishing and malware. Mail receivers query them for the links inside a message — if a link's domain is listed, the message is likely rejected or junked.
Why are URL shorteners flagged?
Shorteners (bit.ly, t.co, …) hide the real destination, are heavily used in spam and phishing, and are penalised by filters. Use the full destination URL on your own domain instead.
Does this follow redirects?
Yes — for an http(s) link it follows the redirect chain (safely, blocking internal addresses) and reports the final destination, so cloaked links are exposed.
